It's been a drizzly, rainy day over in our corner of the world. We've been happy to stay tucked inside just listening to the rain patter against the window and occasionally passing out cups of tea to sodden customers.Days like this require tunes to soothe frayed nerves and fortify the spirits! Here are a few of my favorites for drizzly days: "Failer" by Kathleen Edwards, "Still Lookin' Good to Me" by Band of Blacky Ranchette (fantastic and widely unknown side project of Howe Gelb from Giant Sand), "The Greatest" by Cat Power, and let's not forget the restorative powers of jazz: "Monk's Music" by Monk, "Soultrane" by Coltrane, and "Ah Um" by Mingus are a few greats.
I am in agreement! Absolutely - She & Him and Amelie. I would also add - anything by Andrew Bird and Carla Bruni's Quelqu'un M'a Dit.
